Toyosu took over as Tokyo’s main wholesale fish market when Tsukiji closed in 2018, and the new market’s sushi restaurants and observation deck now draw a steady stream of early morning visitors.
Around the market, reclaimed waterfront land has filled in with high rise apartments,
LaLaport Toyosu’s shopping complex and the immersive art spaces of teamLab Planets.
It is a newer, more spread out district than its neighbors, best explored with a bit of extra walking time built in.
